Don’t forget to drop by and get your copy of the Maltese Falcon, if you haven’t already! We are participating in the Big Read with St. Catharine College, Marion County Public Library and Nelson County Public Library all during March.
March 23: 1pm, Nelson County Public Library, Join with others to discuss the Maltese Falcon and how it has shaped American Mystery novels and American culture.
March 25: 5:30 pm, come by and discuss the book with us, there will be prizes!
March 28: 6pm, Pettus Auditorium, St. Catharine College, come and watch the 1941 Bogart film that started the whole Film Noir movement. Wear your trenchcoat and hat to really get in the mood.
March 30: 6pm, at Nelson County Public Library you can also catch the film and fun.

Get ready, gearheads and gadgeteers, Popular Science, in collaboration with Google books, has put it’s entire scanned archive online, for free. These are direct scans and even include the advertising, so all of you old advertising fans and graphic designers, take a look!
You can access it at http://www.popsci.com/archives. It’s searchable, and works on the iPhone too!

Maltese Falcon Events coming up!

Hey all you mystery fans! Be sure to come to the library on Monday, March 1st to get your free copy of the Dashiell Hammett book, The Maltese Falcon. We’re giving away copies of this book to those who will read it, then come to participate in book discussions during March. We need volunteers to lead discussions at several different times throughout March, so if you are interested in leading a book discussion please email the library at washingtoncopl at bellsouth dot net. On March 1st we will have several games of Clue going at different times throughout the day, as well as a seek-and-find for clues throughout the library, please come in on the 1st and participate in this fun event.
