How to get a Library Card
Getting a library card in Washington County is easy! Just come to the library with about 10 minutes to spare. Bring your drivers license, state ID or a piece of mail addressed to you at your current residence.
Ask for a library card application, and fill it out.
We’ll automatically check to see if you have had a card here before, and then make your new card. The first time you check materials out you can take up to 5 items, with no more than one of those being a movie or music CD. After that your limits are: 20 books, 2 DVD’s and 2 music CD’s, the same as everyone else!
We have no fines, but if you have overdue material that you cannot renew, you will have to return it before checking out any more material. Most items can be renewed as many as two times, provided that there is no one else waiting to use that particular item.
Children may get library cards at the discretion of their parents, who must sign and be responsible for their children’s materials. If your card is not in good standing as a parent you will not be able to get a card for your child. Children must be physically present in order for a card to be made for them. Please be prepared to show some form of identification for your child (insurance card or hospital bills will work for this purpose).
Library cards may be used the day you apply for them, however, they will have to be mailed to your residence in order to be sure that your address is correct.
If you have any questions about this process please call the library at 859-336-7655.
